Dartmouth woman’s cooking exhibit goes nationwide

NEW BEDFORD — After an abundance of “sour no’s,” a local Dartmouth prepare dinner has last but not least received a “sweet yes” by landing a juicy deal to distribute her cooking display nationwide in June.

Maria Lawton is best identified for her Azorean Inexperienced Bean meals website and for her cookbook “Azorean Cooking: From My Family members Table to Yours” — now in its 5th version. Throughout her e-book tour, Lawton said the most recurrent query she would get was, “How come we you should not have any Portuguese food on PBS?”

It was true, seemingly every single other nationality had just one, but there was no Portuguese-themed cooking exhibit in the complete PBS catalog. “It has just about every culinary nationality on there. And I just needed us to be there too,” Lawton explained.

So, she took a conference with Rhode Island PBS programmers to request them herself. “They turned close to, and stated, “Well, you need to do it,’” Lawton remembers.
