Noodle Fest will return after a 10-year hiatus, pitting Chinatown

About a ten years ago, a street foodstuff pageant known as Noodle Fest would pack the streets involving Chinatown and North Seaside, with attendees grabbing a “noodle passport” entitling them to samples from an array of both of those the area’s Chinese and Italian eating places. That pageant fell by the wayside, but is finding revived once more for 2022. Noodle Fest is back on for Saturday, April 30, and the same North Seashore-Chinatown noodle wars will be waged and fill bellies once more.

“We are celebrating the significantly east conference the wild west, around the society of meals that delivers us all together  — all-around precisely, noodles,” the district’s supervisor Aaron Peskin mentioned at a official Noodle Fest announcement ceremony Friday. Peskin was joined by a quantity of North Beach front and Chinatown enterprise leaders, and also artist Jeremy Fish (whose birthday is today!), designer of the 2022 SF Noodle Fest emblem that now graces the billboard beside Caffe Trieste.

The culinary noodle level of competition will be judged by superstar chef Martin Yan, SF Chronicle meals critic Soleil Ho, and community SF bon vivant Broke-Ass Stuart.

You can preview the 29 collaborating places to eat on the SF Noodle Fest website, a lot of of whom have previously mentioned their noodle dishes. Tickets are $20 apiece, and according to the event’s ticketing site ”Each Noodlefest ticket is worthy of 5 samples.” You can get supplemental tickets to score more samples.

In accordance to a push release, “Entertainment throughout the event consists of noodle demonstrations at a booth on Grant Avenue,” and “live bands will also be enjoying at Grant Avenue and Vallejo beside Vesuvio.”

Even though the Noodle Fest celebration is from 2 to 4 p.m. on April 30, the neighborhood neon competition Neon Was Hardly ever Brighter is also scheduled from 3-10 p.m. that same day.
