West Oakland Black Woman Owned Foods Collective, “The Black Culinary Collective (BCC)”

   A group of Black girls who have food enterprises are growing from the devastation of the pandemic by sharing a industrial kitchen in West Oakland.

     The Black Culinary Collective (BCC) is led by Chef Reign Absolutely free, operator of Purple Door Catering, which opened in 2006. 

    Red Door Catering has a 5,000-sq.-foot kitchen area place.  During the pandemic Free’s catering business enterprise fell and her enterprise was harmed all through the protests.  

     Free also realized other Black chefs who didn’t have the revenue to lease business kitchen area area throughout the pandemic.  

      And so, she applied to and gained $50,000 from the Oakland Black Enterprise Fund, which, in accordance to the San Francisco Chronicle, is “an organization that aims to tackle Black entrepreneurs’ historical lack of obtain to money, to assistance members be a part of the collective lease-no cost.”
